BAKERY website!
FIVE LOAVES BAKERY started as
a natural outgrowth from my
eighteen years as a chef and
culinarian. Any seasoned
restaurant goer will tell you that
the bread basket that is set down
in front of them is a sure sign of
things to come. My journey began
when, as a restaurant chef, I
realized that good bread was an
integral part of the dining
experience. My first move was to
set up a little bakery station in the
kitchen where my staff and I could
produce enough bread to meet the
restaurant’s daily requirements.
After much study and
experimentation I decided that the
best reviews came from the
simplest ingredients and methods.
All it takes to produce fabulous,
crusty, chewy bread is three
ingredients: excellent flour, sea
salt, and water. The method is
deceptively simple but requires
time, patience, and experience to
achieve the proper results. At
some point the clamor for my
bread had become so loud and my
passion for the rigors of
professional restaurant cooking
had so waned that the choice for
my future was obvious. With the
encouragement and support of my
wife Connie, I opened FIVE
LOAVES BAKERY in the spring of
2003.
